An endless black ocean dotted with houses, and the game's first real water level. You start in a flooded home and travel boat to boat while something circles below, waiting for the fog.
How to escape Thalassophobia
Drop out the downstairs window and take one of the four boats from house to house, gathering supplies along the way (one early house holds flare guns and a note). Find the scuba gear near the lighthouse, descend through the caged water section, and follow the cave entrance in the lit rock structure out. Don't linger, because when the fog event hits, being out of a boat is what gets you killed.
Clear it and you move on to Cave System.
What trips people up on Thalassophobia
- ▸The timed fog event is the real killer. Being out of a boat when it rolls in is what gets you, so keep moving and do not dawdle between houses.
- ▸Grab supplies on the way (one early house holds flare guns and a note), but do not over-explore. The clock is working against you the whole time.
- ▸Find the scuba gear near the lighthouse before you attempt the caged underwater section, going down without it is a dead end.
- ▸The exit is the cave entrance in the lit rock structure, not another house. Head there once you are geared up.

The lone predator of the drowned world. An anglerfish-looking thing that circles the houses and waits for the fog to roll in.
Survive: Stay in a boat or inside a house, and don't dawdle. When the timed fog event hits, being out in the open water is what gets you killed. Gather what you need and keep moving toward the cave.
