  1. #1

    Wrong Door

    Alternate

The default ending, and the one you get the first time you simply beat the game. It's also the key that unlocks the other three alternate routes.

How to trigger: Play the main campaign straight through, Level 0 all the way to Level 55.1, and finish it normally. No special steps the first time.

What happens: A cutscene drops you out of the sky onto a road, where a car hits you. You wake up in The Bunker holding the ID Card, which is what opens the M.E.G. doors that gate the three alternate endings.

Needs first: None, this is the starting point for everything else.

    The Pink House

    Alternate

An alternate ending centered on the pink house and its resident, Mr. Kitty. You end up a permanent guest.

How to trigger: After Wrong Door, go to Level 6 and use the ID Card on the M.E.G. door near the Level 7 entrance to reach Level 974. Collect the 12 toys while keeping eyes on Mr. Kitty, seat them on the stage, and have everyone stand on their lights to open the curtain.

What happens: Gas knocks you out and you wake in a cleaned-up pink room as Kitty comes and goes. You become a resident of the Pink House, then respawn back in The Bunker.

Needs first: Earn Wrong Door first (you need the ID Card).

  3. #3

    The Suburbs

    Alternate

An alternate ending reached through the infinite staircase, leaving you in a quiet suburban house that's still very much inside the Backrooms.

How to trigger: After Wrong Door, in Level 1 go up to the fourth floor and use the ID Card on the M.E.G. door to enter Level 9223372036854775807, the endless staircase. Climb until you find a floor mislabeled '94', then jump down the center.

What happens: You wake in a suburban bedroom with no hazmat suit. Look out the window and you'll see Level 94 outside. Then it's back to The Bunker, still trapped.

Needs first: Earn Wrong Door first.

    Empty City

    Alternate

An alternate ending that runs through Overgrowth and the Grassrooms and drops you into a huge, empty modern city.

How to trigger: After Wrong Door, from The Bunker use the ID Card on the secured M.E.G. door to reach Overgrowth, disarm all four Death Slides, cross into The Grassrooms, press its four M.E.G. buttons, and ride the exit elevator.

What happens: The elevator falls past many floors and opens on the eleventh into a vast, silent city with empty streets (Level 11). After it, you wake back in The Bunker.

Needs first: Earn Wrong Door first.

    Final Escape

    True ending

The true ending, and the only one where you actually get out. The reveal is that the whole Backrooms run was a game being played on an arcade machine back in reality.

How to trigger: Earn all four other endings first. After you wake near the Bunker elevator for the fourth time, press the Level 3999 button to reach a secret arcade room, then interact with the large M.E.G. arcade machine titled '3999'.

What happens: An arcade attendant appears, says it's past closing, and that he'll let you out, hoping your day went better than his. The screen darkens, the credits roll, and you're back in the real world. You escaped.

Needs first: All four alternate endings (Wrong Door, Pink House, Suburbs, Empty City) completed first. There is no typed password, it triggers at the Level 3999 arcade machine.
