All Codes
Updated July 20, 2026 · Verified for v1.3.2
Every code in Escape the Backrooms, by level. Elevator keypads, computer passwords, and the arcade lift. Most are fixed; a couple (like the Level 1 elevator) are randomized each run, so we give you the method instead of a number.
Most-searched: the Terror Hotel Room 235 code (17564 / 05938 / 89472) and the Level 188 code (415314).
| Level | Type | Code | Where / how |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1The Habitable Zone | keypad | variable | The Level 1 lock is a color code, not a number, and it's randomized every run, so there's no fixed sequence to memorize. Open the red-door room, read the four cars (for example 1 blue, 2 red, 1 green) and press the colored buttons to match. Restart the level and it reshuffles. |
| HubThe Hub | computer | The Hub computer password is the single word itheardyou, lowercase, no spaces. Enter it on the M.E.G. base terminal past the 'Security Check' door to unlock the Level 0, Garage and Gate.EXE files, then run Gate.EXE. | |
| 4Abandoned Office | keypad | variable | There is no fixed Level 4 code like '729'. Each vending machine wants the COUNT of one object type in the room, so you read the room and enter four counts. It varies per run. Count carefully and don't include objects from neighboring rooms. |
| 5Terror Hotel | padlock | The Room 235 code is randomized, but it's always one of exactly three values: 17564, 05938, or 89472. The mailbox 'LOOK UP' puzzle points you to the right one by showing it on the ceiling, but if you're stuck you can try the three in turn. | |
| 188Level 188 | keypad | The Level 188 elevator code is 415314 and it's the same every run. It's meant to be read off the lit-window pattern across the courtyard, but the value itself is fixed, so you can enter it directly. Watch for electric puddles in the elevator. | |
| 3999The True Ending | arcade | The Level 3999 arcade lift code is 931, fixed every run. A ticket sitting on the table in the same room as the lift shows the number. There is no separate 'ESCAPE' computer password; the true ending is triggered at the M.E.G. arcade machine after all four other endings. | |
| SnackThe Snackrooms | keypad | Most guides give the Snackrooms typewriter code as 3752, entered top to bottom. But the puzzle works by reading which circles are blacked out on the note, which suggests it can shuffle per run. Try 3752 first; if it fails, read the note's circles and match the keys. |
Codes can change as the game is patched. If one looks off, open the level page from the table and check the notes.
